A MISSION-DRIVEN COMPANY
Everyday choices can change the world.
Our story began with a unique fusion of our passion for giving back to local communities and our expertise in creating profitable business models. In 2011, this distinctive combination gave rise to PS It Matters.
Initially, we began by partnering with corporate clients to include a 15% donation in the price of gourmet food baskets, corporate gear, gifts, and promotional items. Through this strategy, we were able to support local communities while simultaneously empowering our clients to build brand affinity and increase sales revenues.
In 2014, one of our retail partners sought our help revamping reusable bag sales. To solve the issue presented, our team created a business model rooted in nonprofit promotion and embarked upon a software development journey to support the program. Executing this vision necessitated the creation of “Oz,” a proprietary database that stores an abundance of data containing contact information and engagement history for both stores and participating organizations. This scalable database manages the full range of program activities from monthly local nonprofit selections to data reporting to donation distribution. Development of Oz continues every day and is the result of an investment of more than $3 million.
Through Bags 4 My Cause, our retail partners’ various store locations each select a local nonprofit to receive a $1 donation for every reusable bag sold in a given month. The nonprofit selection process is seamless as a result of software tools powered by Oz. As nonprofits promote their benefiting month, this business model drives new and existing shoppers to participating stores, spikes net reusable bag sales, and streamlines earned media for the retail partner. Since its inception, Bags 4 My Cause has been deployed in numerous retail banners and has continued to prove itself as a profitable and purposeful model.
When the pandemic struck and the need in our local communities was more pressing than ever, we adapted this business model and utilized our proprietary software to create Bloomin’ 4 Good. Through this program, each participating store selects a local nonprofit to benefit from monthly floral sales, receiving a $1 donation for each bouquet sold. Since implementation, Bloomin’ 4 Good has once again demonstrated our business model’s ability to increase gross margin and drive earned media every month at no extra cost to our clients.
After a decade of refining our proprietary software database and three years of program development, we are now launching Coupons 4 My Cause in partnership with Catalina Marketing Corporation. This program brings the highest level of affinity to shoppers by empowering them to redeem donation coupons for the local organization of their choice by simply buying products they already know and love. With a program coupon redemption rates of 21%, the program delivers hundreds of thousands of engaged retail brand impressions, creating between two and four minutes of sustained activity with each impression. This engagement is in addition to a myriad of other impressions resulting from marketing done by benefiting organizations as they promote the program to their support network and general community.
Now deployed in over 3,500 retail locations nationwide, our initiatives have generated more than $14 million in donations to over 55,000 organizations in only 10 years. With no scale limitation, Oz has become the backbone of PS It Matters, empowering our company to facilitate any number of retail programs and accomplish outbound marketing, nonprofit selections, donation processing, data reporting, and more. This software is our company’s undoubtable competitive advantage in this field. At PS It Matters, we are on a mission to impact our local communities through everyday choices.
